Fireclay bathroom sinks

Having been around for over 100 years, fireclay sinks have more than stood the test of time. They usually come in either white or ivory, and their popularity is growing once again with a burst of new, modern designs upon the market. They are extremely durable, won't stain, crack or chip, and have a beautiful finish.

Corian bathroom sink

Created by DuPont, Corian is made from a special mixture of natural minerals and high-performance acrylic, with the texture of stone, but the workability of wood. It comes in around 80 different decorative colours and decorative surfaces, including veined and textured colours as well as solid hues.

A great advantage to Corian is that it is heat, scratch, stain and chip resistant, and carries a ten-year warranty. It's also quite good value for money, and this coupled with its versatility means that a custom made bathroom is probably not going to blow your budget out of the water.

Wood bathroom sink

On the more luxurious end is wood. Oak and teak are two commonly chosen varieties, which are sealed using natural varnish from the Varnish Tree (Rhus Verniciflua Stokes). They are fashioned into bowl-shaped or large rectangle sinks that are strikingly beautiful. In the long term, they may require some more maintenance than the average sink, but they but they are certainly worth it. The natural grain of the wood is brought out in the design, and the natural colours add warmth to a room that few materials can bring.

Stone basins

Natural stone sinks add something special to every bathroom. Each stone is unique, and they usually come in a variety of colours and grains. Most commonly added to bathrooms is marble or granite, but increasingly, many of the top bathroom designers are also sculpting their wares with more unusual stones, such as onyx, sandstone and even polished concrete. Stone is a very sturdy choice for the bathroom, making it practical as well as beautiful.
